really nice (self?)portrait. - according to my taste it could be even better without cutting the ear (or by cutting it even more - what would make it look more deliberately) and by using a larger (more diffuse) light source (like a window to the north) instead of the in-camera-flash for getting neater reflections in the eyes and a overall more flattering and natural lighting. i hope you are not offended by my suggestions and would love to see more...

@sophron: Selfportrait-yes. As far as cutting the ear off I must say I agree with you. I felt I had to crop the picture because I had a few messy hair sticking out which didn't go with the clean/neat picture that I wanted to achieve. I didn't like cropping the whole ear off so I chose something in between...even if that makes the photo imperfect or flawy. I kind of like the lightening just the way it is, but I can see where you are coming from...I will definitely take this advice into consideration next time I shoot some portraits. Your suggestions are more than welcome, this is why I blog - to get a constructive criticism so that I can become a better photographer. Therefore thank you so much for your comment, it's very very much appreciated. Many thanks!:))

@MARIANA: Thanks Mariana! :) The emotions on the picture are real, since I'm going through some hard times. I wanted to capture this moment, because I know that someday in the future I will look back at this, as one of the biggest turning points in my life.

Hello Biljana, your self-portrait is simply amazing. Stunning lighting and perfect composition (with part of ear :)You are very beautiful! What camera do you use/lens? All your photos have superb composition and colors and lighting. You are incredibly talented...no, you are gifted!!! I wished I could take pictures like that.

@Marion: A most humble thank you for your sweet comment. I use Canon EOS 450D with 18-55 lens. As an amateur, my biggest "ahaaa” revelation was shooting in RAW format, because that allows me to correct mistakes encountered when taking the picture without affecting image quality.
